Have you ever been stung by a wasp? If you have then you know how painful they can be. Wasp stings often result in painful swelling and itching, which is very irritating for adults but can be dangerous or frightening for young children. In rare cases, wasp stings may also result in a life-threatening allergic reaction called anaphylaxis.
In the Newcastle and Hunter Region, Paper Wasps are common and very active and their nests can cause serious problems. Wasps live in wood pulp nests centered around a queen, located in a secluded corner such as the space between wooden supports. They are typically attracted to and feed on fruit or other sugary substances. A large wasp nest can contain up to 5000 wasps living together in close proximity.
If the nest is left untreated, the resulting defensive wasp swarm can easily block access to an outbuilding or garage, as well as pose a risk to humans. If the wasps believe that their nest is under attack, they will sting anything or anyone that wanders near it, including pets.
It is best to treat this problem earlier rather than later, as the nest will grow and the wasps will increase their numbers over time. We offer a safe and convenient service to kill and remove any wasp nests that you find. To ensure that you don’t get stung or disrupted, call us and we will promptly remove the nest so you and your family can avoid the pain of a wasp sting.
